KIDtro demo competition
The main event of the Alternative Party family day is the KIDtro demo competition. It is a demo compo dedicated for the kids who get to be unforgiving judges for the entries presented by digital art enthusiasts and coders. Competion is at 11:00.
Finnish space tourist Vesa Heilala's interview
Finnish space tourist Vesa Heilala tells you about his upcoming space travel which is suppose to happen in 2012. During the interview kids have change to ask him questions regarding his space travel. The interview is in Finnish and after the kids questions the interview continues in English. The interview is between 13:00 and 14:00.
Vesa's homepage: http://www.suomalainenastronautti.fi.
Space drawing wall
What would your own planet be like? What about aliens from outer space? Let your imagination run free and fulfill your wildest space ideas on our digital drawing wall, which is open for both adults and children.
Planetarium shows
You can find the URSA Astronomical Association's mobile planetarium at Alternative Party. The planetarium shows take you on a journey where you can enjoy the constellations and thousands of stars like they would appear on a clear night sky in different parts of the world.
Junk workshop
The Alternative Party Family day wouldn't be complete without a junk workshop, where everyone can drop by and build miniature their own miniature spaceships. We'll provide plenty of electronics and materials for you to tear apart and recombine into something spaceworthy. You can also bring your own junk to the workshop.
What will your spaceship look like?
Workshops are at 9:30 and 12:15.
Technology expedition
Strange computers and other curious devices: bring your family to see what computing looked like when mom and dad were young. C64s, MSXs, Amigas, Macintosh II beige boxes, and other devices. Remember that this is an expedition, not a museum. The machines are meant to be touched, tested, used and played with.
Space media art expedition
The other main expedition area in the Alternative Party is dedicated for assorted media art installations and digital experiments such as Nixie-tube clocks and space videos that are projected onto walls. Touching the exhibit items in this area is prohibited unless stated otherwise. Space media art exhibition runs on Sunday from 10 AM to 3 PM.
Muroradio workshop
On Family Day MuroRadio-crew will leave out the boring technical stuff
and concentrate on something that also the little rascals should like:
playing around with sound effects and other things, just to show that
even that internetradio is really nerdy hobby, it doesn't need to be
boring.
