The "crazy Commodore girl" has the stage and will be presenting and discussing past and present cool hardware hacks. She will bring some interesting hardware with her and also take questions from the audience.

Sophie Wilson's Special Guest Session

Featuring an Acorn System One prototype and live demos, Sophie will use her time on the stage showing off and discussing her work with Acorn and ARM machines, with sidepaths to cyberpunk and science fiction.

Shigeru Cinema Gaming

The goal of the Shigeru Cinema Gaming project is to create compelling and unique multiplayer games in the same physical space on a shared big screen using mobiles phones as personal input devices and screens. Cinema Games are unique out-of-home social game experiences. Come and try our our city building strategy game! (and if possible, bring your Java ME-enabled WLAN-capable mobile phone with you)

Workshop: Demoscene documentary series

The Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) will create a documentary series about demoscene. The documentary will be planned at the Nebula Club on Saturday at 14. Welcome to discuss and decide how the demoscene should be documented!

Metapat aka Patrick Bissinger  from Demoscene.tv will start the session by telling his ideas of documenting the scene. After Patrick we will start working on the subject:

• How should the story of Demoscene be told to the audience that still lives outside the scene?
• Who are the most important people in the scene and which demos and turning points should be covered?

If you have an opinion or a killer story, please come and participate! The workshop will be filmed and the material will be used in the document, that will be published mainly on Youtube during 2010.

Cybernetic Intuition and Creativity

At Alternative Party, Timo Honkela will describe how computers are developing into intuitive, creative and socially connected systems. He will discuss and demonstrate the use of neural networks, machine learning, pattern recognition, evolutionary systems in relation to this development.

Timo Honkela conducts research on language processing, cognitive systems, machine learning and their applications. He has served as a professor at Helsinki University of Technology and University of Art and Design Helsinki. Honkela had a central role in the development of the Websom method for visual information retrieval and text mining. He collaborated with George Legrady to produce Pockets Full of Memories, an interactive museum installation, first exhibited at Pompidou Center in Paris. Honkela is a former chair of the Finnish Artificial Intelligence Society. His interest is to develop machine wisdom rather than machine intelligence.

Man Meets Machine - in Go

Go is an oriental board game which has long been considered a difficult challenge in the field of AI. As the second most research board game (after chess), the recent developments have lead to fast improvements in the level of play.

On Saturday 24th of October *man meets machine* in playing Go. Javier-Aleksi Savolainen, one of the strongest Finnish Go-players (ranked 5 dan), will play against a supercomputer running an AI program called MoGo. See you at the Café Stage at 12 noon!

Lingua spa - learn two new languages during AltParty!

At the BRIIM Lingua Spa you can immerse yourself into a new language and learn to speak it in one day. During a day at the spa, guests use only the language to be learned and speak it for eight hours. At Alternative Party, on Saturday from 10 to 12, Lingua Spa Instructor Reidar Wasenius gives participants a fun and and effective two-hour dip into the Spanish language and culture. On Sunday at the same time, you have the opportunity to learn some Italian. Previous knowledge of these languages is not required, but please arrive on time: Intense instruction with essential contents starts at 10 am sharp.
