Formed in 1997, Helsinki based Ural 13 Diktators combine techno, Hi-NRG disco, old game tunes and Soviet nostalgia in their music. From modest roots in the Finnish tracker scene, the duo grew to become a cult act in Germany and Japan at the beginning of the new Millennium, performing live in techno events and rave parties such as Mayday, Love Parade and Wire.
With the 80's themed retrofuturistic soundscapes in the techno world of the early 2000's spreading like nuclear proliferation during the Cold War, Ural 13 Diktators became disillusioned with the scene they helped pioneer into existence, and went on an indefinite hiatus, ceasing even live performances after 2006.
However, in Soviet Russia, a five year break returns from you, which means that Ural 13 Diktators will be performing a single special Soviet show in Alternative Party 2011. It's time to party like they do it in Chelyabinsk Oblast.
