Thank you for great event

This years event is now over. Alternative Party wants to thank all the visitors, speakers, artists, sceners, exhibitors, sponsors, partners and ALL of you for a warm and lovely event we got.

YLE is a main partner of Alternative Party!

Today, 1st of October, we announced that the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE is a main partner of Alternative Party 2009.

The partnership is related to YLE's vision of making their content more available - for all kinds of use, for free! - but also in inventing new ways for how public broadcasters such as YLE and BBC should act in the 21st Century. During Alternative Party, we will take a few steps towards creating new ideas on how our own broadcasting company should serve you and the demoscene people better.

YLE Material Challenge

Regarding this, we also announced today the YLE Material Challenge, which is a 23 days long competition on who will create the best demo, video or other kind of work which uses in new ways YLE's content.

The YLE material has been carefully selected to match the theme "cyberpunk" and includes e.g. text television graphics - in the spirit of graphics from the 1980s, videos of machines and other technological stuff, audio effects and more. We especially encourage doing dynamic entries - e.g. using RSS feeds and creating demos that change dynamically.

The prize for the best work is 1500 €! The winner will be announced at Alternative Party on Sunday 25th of October. If you are lucky, your demo might also be shown also on YLE's national TV or radio channel or website.

During the next weeks we will announce more details on how YLE and demoscene will meet at Alternative Party. It will include both publicity for demoscene and more. Stay tuned!

On a more personal level, it has been great fun to plan the Alternative Party co-operation with the YLE people during the past months. Without exaggerating, the whole company is excited about Alternative Party, demoscene and digital creativity. And my impression is, that demoscene people, Alternative Party organizers and participants are equally excited by YLE. :)
